Problem
Illiteracy is a problem in the UK with 1 in 5 primary school children unable to read.
Insight
Children are more receptive to reading when it is presented to them as a magical and enjoyable activity.
Solution
The National Literacy Trust will collaborate with the Royal Mail to launch a digital and real world based reading game, following the adventures of Emma and her friend Alice the Owl.
Introducing Emma :
'Emma Adventures' to 'Letters From Emma'
The game, "Letters From Emma" will follow the launch of a new ITVX kid's series called "Emma Adventures". "Emma Adventures" will in introduce Emma, a royal mail person and her owl companion, Alice. Every episode will be 20 minutes long and follow along Alice as she delivers mail all around the world, going on adventures and sharing the joy of storytelling.

The Letter From Emma
Letters are the beginning of the adventure. Every registered child will recieve a warm letter from Emma, five colourful stamps and a feather from Alice the owl.
The Game
"Letters From Emma" would be an interactive reading and writing game for children aged 5 to 11, ranging is various levels and rewards for reaching certain literary goals.
Emma’s Mailbox
To foster a love for writing and create a community of Emma's Helpers, we will set up special mailboxes around the UK so that children can send letters to Emma and to fellow Emma Helpers (other children).
